Ryokovv006
Hello everyone! My name is Phill, but you probably know me better as Ryokovv006 or Ecion. Orginally a fan of Quake 3, I stumbled across Bid For Power by chance in late 2001. At this time, Bid For Power was still being developed and wasn't released to the public. However, leaked versions of the game often got out there, and everyone was craving this exciting new Dragonball Z game.
To find more information on BFP, I joined various online communities, such as Freedoms Forum, Pagoda, and Fragacow. Back then, finding new models and maps for Bid For Power was difficult. There were other fan sites, and some content was just posted up to forums. I decided to created my own fansite, www.bfp.iscool.net, to share information on how to install the Dragonball Z version of Bid for Power, wrote up some brief character tutorials and hosted some custom models and maps.
TQTBFP started as a small Geocities website, but after hopping between mutiple free webhosting services due to bandwidth limits, adverts, account deletion, etc, I eventually decided that self-hosting was the best option for me.
During this, I started the TQT clan, and while many people signed up, it never really took off in terms of online gaming. I was on a dial up connection at the time, and so I found myself enjoying the customisation of BFP more than playing it online. The clan had over 20 members at one point, but I eventually closed that part of TQTBFP. I moved to the Majin Clan, then the Global Trailblazers, before interest in BFP started to wane.
It's a little sad that BFPs hay-day, was during the Dragonball Z era. The development team received notification to remove all DBZ content before the games official release, so when this finally happened, it was without our favorite characters. The replacement characters were good, but the magic was somewhat lost. Additional DBZ content was released by the community, such as those by Rodney Olmos (one of the original developers) and this site.
During all of this I've met many friendly and talented people. Lunatik, Bloodflawz, Mystic Mike, RiO, Styreta, BFPSpidy, The Saiyan, Losty, Kaden, Delerium, Mirai, VGACJ, SSJ50000, SSJJeffrey and many more. It's fair to say that BFP was a large contributor to my early passion for computing. Without BFP, I might not have developed the career that I have today.
